  2. To Children Ephesians 6: 1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right. “Honor your father and mother” – which is the first commandment with a promise – “ that it may go well with you and that you may enjoy long life on the earth.”

  3. The key words are “obey” and “honor: • Life time obedient • Obey our parents in the Lord • Because of God’s Grace in us, we are able to obey and honor our parents in spite of their imperfection.

  4. Honor means: Show reverence, respect and godly fear. Children are to respect their parents as we respect God.

  5. We obey and honor God because: • It is the command of God • We want to follow the example of Jesus Christ. Even on the cross, Christ asked Apostle John to take care of his mother.(John 19:25-27)

  6. How do we honor our parents? 4 ways: Using acronym L.O.V.E

  8. Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old. Proverbs 23:22

  9. Our parents are God’s representatives on earth.

  16. To Parents Ephesians 6: 4 “Father, do not exasperate (provoke) your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

  17. Proverb 22:6 “Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will nor depart from it.”

  18. What young people would like from their parents: • Time with parents • To impart Christians values & teaching

  19. 2. Discipline. • Importance of father as a role model to sons Ephesians 6: 4 “Father, do not exasperate your children; instead, bring them up in the training and instruction of the Lord.

  20. Proverb 13:34 “Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul.”

  21. 3. Accept our children for who they are • God creates each one differently • We are all wonderfully and fearfully make in the image of God

  22. Our source of wisdom comes from God “It takes a community to bring up a child”

  24. Dear dad, dear mum The day I stepped into this world Is the day you took up a great task Giving me your unconditional love. Teaching me what is right and wrong.

  25. When I am sad, a listener you will be When I am sick, a doctor you try to be When I am about to give up hope You lifted up my spirits Teaching me failure is the mother of success

  26. When I was a child, I knew I could always count on you. I could always bring to you my troubles, And you’d make them go away.

  27. When I was a teen, We did not always see things eye to eye. There was time when unkind words were spoken, There was time when our action causes you much pain Yet we knew even then, How much you care and love us.

  28. When I became an adult, I thought I did not need you anymore. I went my own way and found it was hard To live in the world without you by my side. I began to realize The sacrifices you had made for me, Always putting me first, Always being there for me.

  29. Dear dad, dear mum We are sorry if hurtful words had been said We are sorry if our action brings tears to your eyes On this special Parents Day We want to thank you for your understanding, love and sacrifices.

  30. Thank You mum, for your love is faithful and always trusting Thank You dad, for your love will stand the test of time. We loved you then We always will.
