  3. Previous Safety Recommendation • Safety Recommendation A‑07‑10 • Require that all 14 CFR Part 121 operators establish Safety Management System programs • FAA is actively engaged in SMS-related rulemaking activities • Recommendation classified “Open—Acceptable Response”

  4. SMS Regulatory Activities ICAO mandate for States to establish SMS requirements by January 2009 FAA efforts June 2006: Issued AC 120-92 “Introduction to Safety Management Systems for Air Operators” December 2006: rulemaking activities began

  5. NASCAR Post-Accident Changes • SOP revisions • Established International Standard for Business Aircraft Operations (IS-BAO) SMS program • Successfully completed IS-BAO registration audit.
