Arlington College 1895-1902 Carlisle Military Academy 1902-1913 Arlington Training School 1913-1916 Arlington Military Academy 1916-1917 The University was part of the A&M System 1917 to 1965 Grubbs Vocational College 1917-1923 North Texas Agricultural College 1923-1949 Arlington State College 1949-1967 The University of Texas at Arlington 1967-present Regardless of the name changes, UT Arlington has provided students with excellent academic instruction and an enriching foundation in numerous areas of study. Applying to Graduate School Application Materials Your application “package” will include: • The Application – complete & submit online • Appropriate Application Evaluation Fee • Official Transcripts – From each college/university attended • Recommendation letters - Typically 3 • Personal statement • Standardized Test Scores – GRE or GMAT, and any necessary English proficiency exams like: TOEFL, TSE, TOEFL IBT, or IE LTS. Most programs outside of the College of Business typically require the GRE, while those within the College of Business may prefer or require the GMAT. • Any additional documentation required by the program you are seeking admission like a: Writing Sample, Resume, or Portfolio for example.   32. GRADUATE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE THE BASICS The Office of Graduate Studies strives to keep you informed and aware of how to ease your graduate expenses. The online Funding Your Graduate Studies Brochure provides information about all types of aid available. Contact the graduate advisor about program specific funding like assistantships, fellowships and scholarships. The Bursar’s Office also offers various types of payment plans, with enrollment loans and installment payment options.

  38. ENGLISH LANGUAGE INSTITUTE (E.L.I.) GRADUATE ENGLISH SKILLS PROGRAM(G.E.S.P.) The English Language Institute (E.L.I.) at The University of Texas at Arlingtonprovides English as a second language programs for International Students. English as a second language programs are designed to help international students and the global community with academic, professional and personal development. Graduate English Skills Program (G.E.S.P.) is an intensive English course for international graduate students who have been accepted into a UT Arlington graduate program and have unconditional or provisional status. Students use materials from their graduate programs as they learn to write academic papers, read textbooks and scholarly material, expand academic vocabulary, listen to and take notes for academic lectures, and make videotaped, oral presentations.

  39. UT Arlington HOUSING Living on campus allows you instant access to libraries, research labs, study areas, food courts, and provides a safe environment to study and live. UT Arlington offers 6 residence halls, including 20 different apartment complexes, both on campus or a short walk from campus and provides a free shuttle bus service that transports students around campus.
