Leadership Changes Continue • President Michael Hogan started July 1, 2010 • Chancellor Phyllis Wise started October 1, 2011 • Michael Hites named Executive CIO on February 11, 2011 • All campus CIOs changed to report to him… • Sally Jackson resigns as Urbana campus CIO on April 8, 2011 • Paul Hixson named interim Urbana campus CIO on June 9, 2011 • Formerly CIO for College of ACES
Engineering IT Continues to Form • Fully unified org chart in effect since February 16, 2011 • Unified funding model in effect since July 1, 2011 • 7 hires since EITC 2010 with two searches pending • Mostly backfill and conversion from hourly to permanent positions • Two managers departed; only one is being replaced • Management duties redistributed and team leads created • All staff members home org changed to Engineering IT as of July 1
Technology Changes • Unified AD structure for Engineering designed and implemented • UOFI domain covering all 3 campuses replacing UIUC domain • Most staff desktops migrated to new domain • Desktops switched to common file/print services as migrated • 1000+ users migrated from Exchange 2007 to 2010 in four weeks • Still migrating users from non-Exchange services • All Engineering IT staff in pilot group for Lync deployment • ~1100 Instructional Lab Computers now commonly managed • Consistent software, file storage, etc. • Citrix XenApp pilot in progress • Desktop replacement plan implemented for all lab and staff systems
Upcoming Changes • Full campus migration of voice service to Lync during first half of 2012 • IBM TEM (formerly BigFix) pilot deployment • Expanded deployment of Citrix XenApp (or similar technology) • Unified ticket system for Engineering IT • New IT Governance structures at campus and college level
