perfSONAR monitoring • The main perfSONAR monitoring is the BNL perfSONAR dashboard • https://perfsonar.usatlas.bnl.gov:8443/exda/ • The results of the tests are exposed via HTTP in JSON format • Thanks a lot to Tom Wlodek • The results are then consumed by an collector which imports them in ATLAS SSB and includes them in the Sonar View • https://dashb-atlas-ssb.cern.ch/dashboard/request.py/siteview#currentView=Sonar&highlight=false
More Details • Data are collected every hour. • Need to understand SSB scalability when more (all?) channels will be monitored • perfSONAR monitors the network, DDMSonar monitors the network+gridFTP+SRM • So the two are complementary • mapping perfSONAR server to site is hardcoded at the moment • Request has been passed to AGIS • All SSB functionalities (sorting, filtering, history, ranking, ..) are there • And clicking on the metric result brings you to the BNL dashboard for more info • SSB could be improved to support natively channels rather than sites
Next Steps (?) • perfSONAR deployment should progress • Can we have all T1s and T2Ds instrumenting perfSONAR? • Which tests should be run and how frequently? • T1-T1, T1-T2(cloud) => for sure • T1-T2D (all clouds) => I’d say yes • T2D-T2D (all clouds) => probably • TX-TX (all clouds) => not now • Coordination?
Next Steps (?) • Can we ask shift teams to look more proactively at monitoring? • Start with priority > 8 channels • Both for DDMSonar and perfSONAR • Can we use monitoring information for transfer scheduling? • Done at some extent, but very rudimental
