Main ecological problems in Italy • rivers pollution (towns and factories without a system for recycling waste water) • illegal buildings inareas of natural interest • decreasing of wildlife habitat • impoverishment of sea-ecosystem due to tourism and pollution • Air pollution in big towns • Soil impoverishment due to intensive agriculture

Clean-Up the Med International eco-action made up by volunteers and school classes in the Mediterranean basin Started in 1995 with 60 NGOs In 2002 over 850 NGOs partecipated in 22 countries

Clima e Povertà (Climate and Poverty) C&P focus on the relation between climate and underdevelopment Johannesburg Summit declared that underdeveloped countries release less quantities of dioxide carbon than the richest ones but they pay the highest price as • desertification • rising of temperature • sanitary deseases • social problems and poverty
Clima e Povertà (Climate and Poverty) STOP GREENHOUSE EFFECT ! C&P planned the following aims: • distribution of information material about the relation among climate and poverty • two national petitions about the decreasing 6.5% CO2 emission • destination of 0.7% Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to cooperation and development programs • decreasing 50% of the energy production from oil in 20 years • fundraising to finance solidarity and cooperation projects the third world • awareness campaigns in schools This is a reliable program that could decrease the world hunger

Legambiente Solidarietà A Legambiente’s branch which works in countries where social problems are related to environmental disasters
Chernobyl Project Started in 1994 Aims: • hosting children from areas close toChernobylNPP • awareness of public opinion about the nuclear contamination in Russia, Belarus, Ukraine • collecting funds to provide paediatric hospitals with drugs and sanitary equipment
Chernobyl Project 20,000 children hosted in 8 years 1 month in Italy eating clean food, reduces about 50% Cesium 137 they absorbed 120 local groups host 7-12 years old children Children come from most contaminated areas ( > 15 Curie of Ce 137 per sqkm)
