  2. Life Cycle • A life cycle is all the parts of an animal’s life. • It begins with a new living thing. • Then when the living thing has is own young, a new life cycle begins.

  3. The Life Cycle of a Cat

  4. Young mammals start growing inside their mothers’ bodies. • Kittens grow inside the mother cat. • When the kittens are big enough, they are born.

  5. A newborn kitten is helpless. Its mother must care for it. • The mother keeps the kitten safe and clean. • The mother cat feeds her kittens with milk from her body. The milk helps the kittens grow.

  6. The Life Cycle of a Frog

  7. Tadpole • First, a tadpole, or young frog hatches from an egg. • A tadpole lives in water. • It uses its gills to take in oxygen and its tail to swim.

  8. Next • Next, the tadpole eats water plants and insects. • It gets bigger and grow two back legs.

  9. Then, • Then the tadpole starts to look more like a frog. • It still has a tail, and now it also has four legs. • It uses lungs to breathe.

  10. Last, • The frog is fully grown and has no tail. • The frog looks like its parents now. • It lives on land most of the time.

  13. A sea turtle is reptile • A turtle mother comes out of the ocean at night and crawls up the beach alone • She digs a hole and lays her eggs in the hole and buries them to keep them safe.

  14. In about 60 days, the young turtles hatch. • They dig their way out of the sand • Then they hurry into the ocean.
