Biblical Fact #1 God is the only source of true peace and He is not at peace with everyone.
Romans 15:33 Who is this? • Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen.
Salutation Romans 1:7 • To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: • Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Saints • Name for believers meaning “holy ones.” • The OT believers were called to be “holy,” or consecrated to God (Ex 22:31; Lev 11:44). • In the NT, “saints” became the apostle Paul’s favorite name for Christians. TBD
Two Scenarios God is at peace with me. or 2. God is angry with me. There isn’t a third middle ground.
Admonishment We need to be able to explain why is God at peace with saints and how one becomes a saint.
Biblical Peace • The Bible teaches that outside of God all peace is at best only a pseudo provisional peace without any true chance of lasting beyond a season of time.
Question Why isn’t God at peace with everyone? Why can’t he just chose to be at peace?
Response When your child is living in rebellion to your authority in the home are you at peace with them?
Biblical Fact #2 Because of His character, man’s sin prevents God from being at peace with (idolaters) unrighteous people.

Biblical Fact #3 There is only one Way to have peace with the one true living God (and it is not living a good life.)

The Gospel of Peace Romans 10:15 • And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things!
The Gospel of Peace The G. of P. is a peaceful message that sets people apart from each other.
The Gospel of Peace Asks: Would you like to have peace with the Sovereign God of the universe or experience His wrath?
Sovereign God • Defined • The One Divine Being who possesses absolute authority and power without any limiting factors (apart from His own perfect character) over every possible aspect of life and death in all known and unknown universes.
1 Timothy 6:15 Potentate = Sovereign Ruler • Which in his times he [God] shall shew, who is the blessed and only Potentate, the King of kings, and Lord of lords;
Jesus Christ Makes it possible for you to be at peace with the Sovereign Ruler of all that has been or ever will be created.
The Gospel of Peace Asks: Would you like to have peace with the Sovereign or experience His wrath?
But it doesn’t ask the question like: “Would you like to have raspberry on top of your cheesecake?”
Jesus Said: Luke 12:51 • Suppose ye that I am come to give peace on earth? • I tell you, Nay; but rather division:
Jesus Said: John 14:27 • Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. • Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Authenticate repentant faith in Christ’s and his atoning work on the cross is the only way to have peace with God.
Romans 5:1 Justification permanently takes care of my sin problem—so that I can have peace with God. • Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:
Justification DOES not mean I don’t sin anymore; instead,
Justification Is Therefore God is at peace with the just. • The act of God in bringing sinners into a new covenant relationship with himself through the forgiveness of sins. • It is a declarative act of God by which he establishes persons as righteous—that is, in right and true relationship to himself. • TBD
Romans 3:26 • To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.
Think about how much peace “justification by faith” brings into my life. If I am born-again (justified—blood washed saint), I can have the worst morning of my life, get into a fatal car accident, and have no fear of being condemned at the Judgment seat of Christ! Yes—I am talking about dying with un-confessed sin! Consider This
I am at peace because of Romans 8:1
Romans 8:1 • There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.
Question Do you need to repent and put your faith in the gospel of Christ?
Romans 14:19 • Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
Biblical Fact #4 God expects me to live at peace with others because He is at peace with me, without compromising my loyalty to Him.

According to Jesus Peace with unsaved people should not be the most important thing to us.
Romans 14:19 • Let us therefore follow after the things which make for peace, and things wherewith one may edify another.
