Be a Good Listener • Immediately after hearing something, most of us can recall only 50% of what we heard. • Within two to eight weeks, we can recall only 25% or less of the original message. • A positive or negative attitude while listening can affect our ability to retain what we hear.

Did I do my homework for my next class? What did my friend's text mean?" • Try to put other thoughts out of your mind and concentrate on the message.
