  2. The Seed Phase - Introduction • Each game of 1E starts with the Seed phase • Pick the player who goes first by any mutually agreeable method (coin flip, onside kick recovery, UFC cage match, Trek trivia questions, etc) • There are 4 portions of the Seed phase that must occur in order • Doorway sub-phase • Mission sub-phase • Dilemma sub-phase • Facility sub-phase • In this presentation, we will be covering the Doorway sub-phase.

  3. The Seed Phase - Introduction • During each sub-phase, players take turns placing (“seeding”) cards on the table. • Each time it is your turn: • You may either seed a card, • Or say “Pass” • As soon as both players “pass” consecutively, that sub-phase ends • Even if you had other cards you wanted to seed during that sub-phase

  4. The Seed Phase - Doorways • Doorway sub-phase • Beginning with the player who won the toss (or the cage match, or whatever method you selected for going first), you and your opponent take turns seeding Doorways (and other cards that may, or must, seed during this sub-phase), either on the table, or on top of Side decks, as specified by the card’s game text.

  5. This Doorway’s game text specifies that it can “Seed on table.”

  6. Here’s an example of a non-Doorway card whose game text specifies that it “Seeds on table during doorway phase”

  7. The Seed Phase - Doorways Here’s an example of the flow of events in the Doorway sub-phase: You won the coin toss, so you go first. You seed the Q’s Tent Doorway atop your Q’s Tent Side deck to activate it

  8. The Seed Phase - Doorways Here’s an example of the flow of events in the Doorway sub-phase: Your opponent seeds Temporal Micro-Wormhole

  9. The Seed Phase - Doorways Here’s an example of the flow of events in the Doorway sub-phase: You seed the Battle Bridge Doorway to activate your Battle Bridge Side deck

  10. The Seed Phase - Doorways Here’s an example of the flow of events in the Doorway sub-phase: Your opponent seeds Space-Time Portal

  11. The Seed Phase - Doorways Here’s an example of the flow of events in the Doorway sub-phase: You seed an Alternate Universe Door

  12. The Seed Phase - Doorways Here’s an example of the flow of events in the Doorway sub-phase: Your opponent says “Pass”

  13. The Seed Phase - Doorways Here’s an example of the flow of events in the Doorway sub-phase: You don’t have any cards left to seed in the Doorway phase, so you say “Pass” as well Since both players passed consecutively, the Doorway sub-phase is over

  14. The Seed Phase – Doorways • That wasn’t so bad, now, was it? • Upon completion of the Doorway sub-phase, we move onto the Mission sub-phase.
