Value • range of light and dark

Chiaroscuro • means light dark
Color • element of design with three properties, hue, value, and intensity
Hue • identifies a color as in the spectrum
Primary colors • red, yellow, and blue
Secondary colors • orange, green, violet
Intermediate colors • lies between the primary and secondary colors
Complementary colors • hues directly opposite each other on the color wheel
Intensity • describes the brightness and dullness of a color
Triad • harmonies consist of three equidistant hues on the color wheel
Split complementary colors • use of one hue and combine it with hues on either side of its complement
Analogous colors • consist of adjacent hues on the color wheel
Monochromatic • use tints and shades of only one color
Neutrals • have no hue, black, white, and gray
Warm colors • reds, oranges, and yellows
Cool Colors • blues, greens, and violets
