Online • Visit company websites to find out if they have their application online • Can usually be found under the heading “About Us” or similar heading • Follow their specific directions for completing the application online and submitting
Email • Title of position applying for as the subject line • Attach copy of your resume using format specified by company—plain text or MS Word • Some employers do not accept attachments--resume will then be part of the body of the email
Email • Cover letter will be the body of the email • Be brief and to the point • Make sure signature line and contact information for scheduling and interview are included • Send yourself a copy of email to check formatting before sending to employer
Paper—In Person • Download samples from Internet and practice completing forms before going in person • Ask for copy of application and take with you to complete and return if possible • Be prepared for brief, on-the-spot interview—know days/times available for work • Neat and tidy appearance
Paper—In Person • Bring the following to complete application • Your full contact information • Educational information including dates of completion • Previous employment information—names, addresses, dates of employment • References including contact information • Copies of current resume • Two black ink pens
Paper—In Person • Print/Write neatly • Follow directions carefully leaving no blanks • If something doesn’t pertain to you, write “not applicable”
