  2. Rhyme • The repetition of sounds at the ends of words Example… “You hear my voice, you hear that sound Like thunder gonna shake the ground” -Katy Perry

  3. Rhythm • The beat created by the pattern of stressed and unstressed syllables. Example… Congratulations! Today is your day. You’re off to great places! You’re off and away!

  4. Repetition • The use of any element of language – a sound, word, phrase or sentence – more than once Example… Because I’m happy. Clap along if your feel like happiness is the truth. Because I’m happy. Clap along if you know what happiness is to you. -Pharrell Williams

  5. Onomatopoeia • The use of words that imitate sounds Example… crash bang hiss

  6. Alliteration • The repetition of consonant sounds in the beginning of the words. Example… lovely, lonely, lights

  7. Metaphors • Describe one thing as if it were something else. Example… “Shot me out of the sky You’re my kryptonite” -One Direction

  8. Simile • Use like or as to compare two unlike things and show similarities between the two. Example… “I love you like a love song baby” -Selena Gomez

  9. Personification • Gives human qualities to something that is non-human Example… The ocean crashed angrily during the storm.
