  2. Distributive Property • This property combines multiplication with addition and subtraction. • To multiply a sum or difference, multiply each number within the parentheses by the number outside the parentheses. 3(2 + b)

  3. 3(2 + b) • Distribute the 3 to both numbers inside of the parentheses by multiplying. • 3(2) + 3(b) 6 + 3(b) 6 + 3b

  4. You can use the distributive property with multiple variables: • 4(x + y) • 12(a – 3b) • 2x(x + y)

  5. Examples: • 15(-12g + 10) -13(2 – 18r)
