Objectives & Aims of MFFAM • Promote & encourage: • the development & management of aquaculture and other related activities (Marine and brackish water) in Malaysia on the rationale for food, recreation and conservation. • Produce, publish & disseminate latest information on sustainable aquaculture and related issues • Building good relationship with individuals & organizations at the national and international level.
Objectives & Aims of MFFAM - Provide feedback to government & other agencies on matters related to the development of aquaculture & related activities. - Provide recommendations for the preservation & conservation of water resources to promote an conducive environment to the development of aquaculture and conservation of aquatic species.
Objectives & Aims of MFFAM • Assist members to obtain certification in Best Aquaculture Practices. - Participate in marketing activities for sustainable aquaculture products.
With the application of farm production recording system, better record keeping of the farming data could be implemented and serve as a guide for future management. Future Trend of Aquaculture Industry • Concerned about the sustainability of aquaculture production, traceability and eco-friendly methods. • Transition from capture fishery to sustainably produce seafood.

GST Aquaculture Farm HATCHERY & POND FACILITIES @ BATU KAWAN, PENANG • Located at Batu Kawan SPS, Penang. • Annual production for Hatchery is 10 million fries. • Species produced: Seabass, Snapper, Cobia, Grouper and Pompano. • The main market for hatchery produce fries is local farmers and own farms • Total harvest - 100 tons per annum • Grow out - for local consumption to meet the demand from hypermarket & factory processing.
BROODSTOCK & CAGE CULTURE • Located at Teluk Dalam, Pulau Pangkor, Perak. • Total 1500 cages, total production 200 tons per annum. • GST implement SPLAM practices and awarded EU Approved farm and Friend of the Sea certification in 2010.
SEAFOOD PROCESSING PLANT • Located at Simpang Ampat, Seberang • Prai, Penang. • GST currently processes 200 tons of seafood per month. • Main market for chilled fish fillet – export (air-flown) directly to Australia, USA, Europe. Frozen fillet is for local market. • GST also received global & domestic recognitions: HACCP, EU Certificated (EU.93), ISO 9002 Certification & Halal Malaysia.
