Blazer Raiser • In January, the VSU tennis team held a fundraiser. I worked the front desk, welcoming guests and taking the money and giving the guests tickets. Then, all the adults had to auction off tennis players to play with in the fundraiser. Once they got their player, I had to go give them a form to sign.
Blazer Raiser Cont. • I had a lot of fun in this experience. All of the adults were so enthusiastic about the fundraiser and the whole event itself. I think the players had just as much fun as well. It was a great event for service.
Supporting Intramural Sports • There were a lot of intramural sports that went on this semester. Besides participating in them, I went to Bryan Willis’ basketball games. I cheered him on loudly for his team, and he loved having the support.
Sports Cont. • Even though I was going to support a friend, this was a good act of service. I learned that a good bit of support for a team does a lot. It really does influence someone when you cheer on someone. It really helps. Watching the basketball game was fun.
Smashers • The VSU Club Tennis Team held a tournament on campus this semester. I had to sit outside in palms quad and promote the tournament to all students. We ended up having a good turnout and successful weekend.
Smashers Cont. • This tournament was so much fun to me because I love to play tennis and it went for a good cause. All of the money we raised went to Relay for Life and American Cancer Society. So the experience was good for a lot of reasons.
Relay for Life • This April, VSU put on Relay for Life on the front lawn on main campus. There were a lot of booths set up, and a small track around all of them. Since it was all night, bags that represented loved ones lighted up the track. The work that I participated in was working the FYE booth and the cornhole game. I also walked the track five times and participated in many events I could.
Relay for Life Cont. • What I learned from this is that there are a lot of people affected by cancer. This event raises so much money to help these people. I think it is for a great cause and our school did such a good job raising money for the American Cancer Society.
