Who Can Be Saved? • All: • Matthew 11:28 “Come to Me, all you who labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” • Hebrews 2:9 “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honour, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone.” • Titus 2:11 “For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men”
“What Must We Do?” • Hear Him: • Matthew 17:5 ‘While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!”’ • John 5:34 “Yet I (Jesus) do not receive testimony from man, but I say these things that you may be saved.”
“What Must We Do?” • Call on His name: • Acts 2:21 “And it shall come to pass That whoever calls on the name of the Lord Shall be saved.” • Matthew 7:21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven.” • Matthew 28:18 “And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.”
“Believe Him” • Believers must be baptised: • Mark 16:16 “He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Believers must • Enter by Christ only: • John 10:9 “I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.” • John 14:6 Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.”
Believers must • Endure: • Matthew 10:22 “And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.
What Can I Do? • Learn the truth: • John 8:32 “And you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” • John 17:17 “Sanctify them by Your truth. Your word is truth.” • Romans 10:14 “How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?”
What is The Truth • The Truth • Romans 15-18“And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!” 16But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Isaiah says, “Lord, who has believed our report?” 17So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. 18But I say, have they not heard? Yes indeed: “Their sound has gone out to all the earth, And their words to the ends of the world.” • See also Matthew 13:3-23.
Believe in Him • Believe in Christ: • John 8:24 “Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am He, you will die in your sins.” • John 20:31 “but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.” • Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.”
Repent • Repent of all sins: • Luke 13:3 “I tell you, no; but unless you repent you will all likewise perish” • Acts 17:30-31 “Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent, 31“because He has appointed a day on which He will judge the world in righteousness by the Man whom He has ordained. He has given assurance of this to all by raising Him from the dead.”
Repentance • What leads to repentance? • Romans 2:4 “Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?” • 2 Corinthians 7:9-10 “Now I rejoice, not that you were made sorry, but that your sorrow led to repentance. For you were made sorry in a godly manner, that you might suffer loss from us in nothing. 10For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; but the sorrow of the world produces death.”
Confess • Confess faith in Christ: • Romans 10:10 “For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.” • Acts 8:37 ‘Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.” And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”’ • Matthew 16:16 Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.”
Baptized • Be baptized INTO Christ: (i.e., unto, in order to obtain remissions of sins). • Acts 2:38 ‘Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.”’ • Acts 22:16 ‘And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.’ • Galatians 3:27 “For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
