Description of event including art forms Involved. • I went to see Cinderella at Maidenhill School on the 1st of December 2010 ,which was performed by The Fairgame Theatre company . • Fairgame theatre company is mainly self-funding and tours around the country to make money . They also recive some money from the Everyman theatre. • Back to contents
Why I went to this event. • I wanted to see it because I really like the story of Cinderella and it is at my local school ,which I will be going to next Septenber. • Back to contents
The things I liked and why • I liked the way they involved the audience in the play ,like when Prince Charming’s mum was teaching him to dance, they told the audience to stand up and have a go at joining in. • I also liked the set because it was quite simple and low tech. For example the basement was a tent so when the girl was locked in the basement, we didn’t feel too sorry for her because it was only a tent. This is a Brechtian device because the audience didn’t get to emotionally involved with the characters and the play. They also kept changing characters in front of the audience and the actors played the instruments while they were performing. • Back to contents
The things I didn’t like and why. • I think they stuck some songs in at unnecessary points in the play to make it longer . But I think they were mainly all right . Back to contents
I would or would not recommend it to others because. • I would recommend it because I think it was very funny and they made the audience feel part of the play. • Back to contents
What I learnt from the experience. • That you can involve the audience in a play no matter how happy or sad the play is. • Back to contents
What evidence have I got that I went. I have the ticket and the flyer , which I have both of inside my folder. Back to contents
I PLAN TO SHARE THIS REVIEW WITH OTHERS BY. • This review is going to be displayed on the Arts Award Display board at Maidenhill and I am going to tell my friends at Kings Stanley about it. • Back to contents
What event would I go and see next. • I would like to go see another Brechtian style play but I am not able to see one at the moment because we are approaching Christmas and everywhere is pantos, but I may be seeing The Comedy Of Errors or Hairspray which my mum may take me to. • Back to contents
