  2. About CHCI • The Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute (CHCI) was established in 1978 by members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. • CHCI was formed as a nonprofit, nonpartisan educational organization whose programs would focus on increasing opportunities for Latinos.

  3. About CHCI…continued • Mission To develop the next generation of Latino leaders. CHCI offers educational and leadership development programs, services and activities. • Vision An educated and civic-minded Latino community that participates in local, state, and federal policy decision-making.

  6. CHCI Scholarship Award • Need based, community service • Over 105 awards • Deadline: April 16 • Awards: $1,000 AA + DELL notebook $2,500 BA/BS degree + DELL notebook $5,000 Graduate degree

  7. CHCI Congressional Internship • Eight week summer program for undergraduates • 34 internships per year • Deadline: January 31 • Stipend: $2,000 + roundtrip transportation + commuter assistance + housing

  8. CHCI Public Policy Fellowship • Nine-month public policy fellowship in DC for recent graduates • 23 fellowships per year • Deadline: March 1 • Stipend: $2,200/ month BA/BS degree • $2,600/month Graduate degree • + roundtrip transportation + commuter • assistance + health insurance

How to become a CHCI Placement Supervisor • Fill out a placement interest form by July 16th • Provide a detailed work plan • Conduct informational interviews • Participate in CHCI events such as fellowship orientation, CHCI Hispanic Heritage events, etc. in order to get to know fellows, and staff
