  1. Searching for David’s HeartCherie BennettSeptember/1998fiction Kenia Del Bosque 6th period

  2. Darcy’s Birthday, David’s death day • In the Central Park at night time, on Darcy’s Birthday, Darcy see’s David and his girlfriend. Darcy gets jealous and take off that when David dies. It is important when David dies because Darcy feels guilty! If the scene of David chasing Darcy and ending up dead the story would have changed Darcy’s search for David's heart!

  3. Characters

  4. David’s accident • I wouldn’t let him catch me, no, never. I would run out of my own skin, until I became someone else, anyone else but awful me. “Darcy!” David called again. “Stop so I can_” That’s when I heard the terrible noise from behind me: brakes squealing, a sickening thud, and then a silence far more terrifying than the sounds that had come before. ( MAN vs. NATURE )

  5. Summary of Plot • A 12 yr. old girl’s brother dies and gets his heart donated. She goes out on an adventure looking for her brothers donated heart with some help from her best friend Sam! They meet people along the way like a poor friendly elderly named Enid and the obnoxious magician Eddie. It’s a hard road trip until they finally meet Winston the young boy who had David's heart.

  6. You never know what you have till it’s gone • Text Evidence 1: I took a bite of stuffing and hated myself for doing it. Although I knew I deserved to suffer and die for what I had done, and starvation seemed like a good way to do it, I was too weak-willed. (pg:73) • Text Evidence 2:” You don’t know anything!” I screamed. “I deserve to die.” Deed- Sam began, "I do because I killed him.” (pg:200) • Text Evidence 3: What I had done. What I could never undo. (pg:108) Theme

  7. Point of View ( Darcy ) • The point of view is Darcy. Darcy as the point of view explains what is going on in the story from when her brother dies to where she find the boy with her brothers heart. If the author choose Sam to be the point of view there wouldn’t be a lot of explanation.

  8. Symbolism • I picture of a sad girl because it represent Darcy because she is sad through out the whole story.

  9. Read this book!! • I think kids should read this book because it teaches you that you don’t realize what youhave till its gone. Searching for David's heart
