Plot Development • Exposition • -sets the stage for the story-characters are introduced-setting is described • Rising Action • -occurs as the story continues -central conflict unfolds as the plot because more complex and problems and complications arise-suspense builds as characters struggle to find solutions to the problem
Plot Developments • Climax • -the turning point of the story -action reaches a peak -outcome of the conflict is decided-climax usually results in a change in the characters or a solution to the proble • Falling Action (also called "resolution" or "document") • -occurs at the conclusion of the story-loose ends are tied up and the story ends
Transitions 1st Section • In the beginning Indiana is in search of the lost ark. • He searches for it at a Nazi dig ground and eventually finds the location of the ark.
Transitions 2nd Section • Jones Finds the Ark, but the Nazis discover that he has found it. • Jones gets trapped in the underground temple and everyone thinks he is dead.
Transitions 3rd Section • Indiana fins his way out of the temple and takes off after the ark. • He infiltrates a secret Nazi base and finds the ark once again. • He retrieves the ark and it is placed in a secret United States base.
Dangling Cause • A dangling cause is a combination of lines, images, or actions that appear early in the film and are seen again later within the film.
Cause 1 • In the first section Indiana Jones is searching for the lost ark. • He wonders into a Nazi dig site and begins to look for the ark. • He discovers the ark before the Nazis but eventually gets.
Cause 2 • Indiana is captured and loses track of where the ark was taken. • He eventually escapes captive and pursuits the ark once again.
Cause 3 • He find the ark and delivers it back to a secret United States Base.
Motifs • These are lines, colors, actions, or musical themes that combine during the film.
Music • The music within the film would be glorious when Indiana Jones was in an action scene. • The music would turn to a sad tone when someone would get shot or during love scenes.
Colors • The colors were mainly boring colors like tan and brown due to the middle eastern climate. • Some reds were used to make certain things stand out like Nazi flags and fuel barrels.
Angle shots • The camera would use low angles to show a certain person has power. • The camera would also use close up to make scenes more dramatic.
