  1. ALGAE

  2. Position of algae : According to five king dome classifiction system whish was suggested by Ropertwittaker in 1969. the 5 kingdoms were ( monera , protista , plants ,animals ,fungi) . So algae included in kingdomemonerawich contains cyanophyta or blue green algae and kingdom protista which contains all other groups of algae.

  3. Classification of algal division based on: 1-biochemical criteria: A-pigments. B-storge products. C- cell wall composition. 2-morphologi criteria. 3-genetic differences. 4-many can survive desiccation for several years or have resting stages that can do so.

  4. Classification: 1 . monera Kingdome: (cyanobacteria)Cyanophyta. 2. protista Kingdome: A. Euglenophyta B. Chlorophyta ( green algae) C. Chrysophyta( yellow – green) D. Bacillariophyta (diatoms) E. Phaeophyta ( brown algae) F. Rhodophyta ( red algae)

  5. (cyanobacteria)Cyanophyta • Blue-green or cyanobacteria are microscopis cell that grow naturally in fresh and salt water. • They are a type of bacteria, but som ways act like plants by photosynthesis. • They grown in dams , Rivers ,creeks ,reservoirs, lakes and hot spring.

  6. Kingdom : Monera Division : Cyanophyta Class : Cyanophyceae Order : Chroococcales Family : Chroococcaceae Genus : 1- Chroococcus

  7. 1- Chroococcus 1-occurs in colonies of 2-4 cells. 2 – the cells are generally spherical to hemispherical 3-independent of one anthor 4-each cell in the colony produced a gelatinous thin sheath of its own.and each colony also.

  8. Kingdom : Monera Division : Cyanophyta Class : Cyanophyceae Order : Chroococcales Family : Chroococcaceae Genus : 2- Gloeocapsa

  9. 2- Gloeocapsa 1- ehch cell is more or less spherical in shpe and surrounded by concentrically layered sheth of of mucilage 2-these sheaths unite the cell into extensive gelatinous colonies.

  10. Kingdom : Monera Division : Cyanophyta Class : Cyanophyceae Order : Chroococcales Family : Chroococcaceae Genus : 3- Microcystis

  11. 3- Microcystis 1- large numbers of spherical cell are held within a commoon mass of mucilage 2- the colonies are always free – floating.
