  2. Purpose of WG • Method for publishing DarwinCore GGBN member data on tissues and DNA • Develop a DNA/Tissue class to DarwinCore, based on existing ABCDDNA model

  3. Discussion Outcomes • DarwinCore DNA tissue classes • New “Basis of Record”, sample • Four new classes • Sample facts (e.g., tissue, DNA, RNA, environmental) • Kind of Unit (e.g., blood, muscle, mRNA, soil, water) • Amplification (e.g., Genbank accession number, primers, sequence length) • Preservation (e.g., liquid nitrogen, frozen, silica) • Preparation (e.g., method, date)

  4. Amplification n GNA literature reference n 1 1 n n 1 1 Preservation 1 Simple image extension 1 n Occurrence 1 1 n n n Preparation Resource Relationship SampleFact Identification

  5. Next 12 months • Explore possibility of adding sample to the “core” • Implement classes in IPT • Run SI “test case”, as part of DFG proposal • Index data from IPT • Identify and fill gaps/issues • TDWG 2013, review standard • December 2013, propose DNA/Tissue classes and ABCDDNA as new TDWG standard

  6. Thank You. Katie Barker GGBN and GGI Coordinator Smithsonian Institution
