Teacher Candidate Career Forum • Joint Recruitment Event with WLU Brantford • When: Friday, January 21, 2011 • Principal Panel, Teacher Panel, Alternative Career Panel • Career Fair (School Boards and International Agencies) • Registration is required: http://iteach.brantford.nu/workshops/
Infusion Conference and Education Fair • The iTeach program of the North Bay campus is holding the annual educational technology conference, Infusion, on Saturday January 29th from 8am-4pm in North Bay. • Conference includes 2 keynote presentations, 3 workshops of your choice plus a free lunch. • COST: $25. • HOW TO REGISTER: http://www.nipissingu.ca/infusion • DEADLINE: 4:00 p.m., January 14th! • CONFERENCE PROGRAM: http://www.nipissingu.ca/iteachsupport/Site/Infusion_files/electronicprogram.pdf • Free Education Fair on Friday, January 28th if interested!
Infusion Conference and Education Fair • Payments will be due to Stephen Tedesco (cash or cheque) following the close of registration • If you have any questions, do not hesitate to contact Stephen at stephent@nipissingu.ca • Important note: All the students participating in North Bay have their own Macbook, and the instructors may assume that all students have a Macbook with the iTeach EHD. If you have a laptop (Mac or PC) please bring it! If you do not, try to borrow one. If you still don't have one, please contact Stephen Tedesco before the conference.
WORKSHOPS 10:00-11:00 a.m. OR 1:00-2:00 p.m. 001 (LAB) • 161 Canadian School Boards & 295 Private Employers use applytoeducation to post their jobs and receive applications on-line. • http://www.applytoeducation.com/ • Hands-on workshop • Bring your computer and teaching portfolio materials (e.g., certificates, practice teaching evaluations, etc). • Overview of applytoeducation as well as the resources on campus that you can use to create your portfolio (e.g., scanners) • Registration required: http://iteach.brantford.nu/workshops/
WORKSHOPS • ABQ- Additional Basic Qualifications (additional division) • AQ- Additional Qualification (e.g. Special Education) • Al Nichols, Area Co-ordinator will provide an overview of the ABQ/AQ courses available, and how to register • Students must apply to OCT in order to register (OCT number required) • What classes are you interested in taking? • Need 10-12 people minimum in order to run a class
Grad Pictures – WLU Lifetouch Photograhy New process for 2010/2011 based on TC request – to use one photographer only to reduce sitting fee cost To date…. 60 TC eligible for grad pictures 47 TC photographed by Life Touch/WLU photographer 16 grad packages ordered – 8 TC chosen WLU pictures only Sitting fee of $25.00 includes 1 - 11X14 composite from whatever faculty the TC decides on 2 composites require additional fee of $10 If needed – Life Touch prepared to schedule 1 day at Brantford campus to take NU pictures for composite only ANY INTEREST?
Apply to Graduate Nipissing: • There are 2 methods of applying for graduation: • 1) The application for graduation can be found on-line: http://www.nipissingu.ca/registrar/downloads/gradapp.pdf OR • 2) Apply to graduate through Web Advisor • Due: First week in March WLU: • Ensure that you have met all graduation requirements including fulfillment of degree requirements and a minimum 7.0 GPA. • Deadline: January 15, 2011 for the Spring 2011 Convocation. A Convocation fee of $21.45 will be applied to your account. Applications will be accepted between January 16, 2011 and May 1, 2011, but will be assessed a $54.65 late fee, which will be applied to your account. No applications are accepted after May 1, 2011. • Application Form can be found on-line: https://www.wlu.ca/forms_detail.php?grp_id=1365&frm_id=496 • If you are not planning to attend convocation, your degree will be couriered to you after the ceremony in June.

Convocation and Valedictorian Awards • Graduating teacher candidates are encouraged to review the awards and submit an application • Application Required (or nomination) • Recipients will be determined by the Awards Committee and Faculty based on the quantity and quality of nominations • One Valedictorian will be selected to represent both the Primary/Junior and Junior/Intermediate programs • Valedictorian Address will be given at the Convocation Dinner, which will take place at the Best Western in Brantford following the Convocation Ceremony.
