2. Let’s address the elephant in the room before we get down to the features, the price. At Rs 9.99 lakh to Rs 13.90 lakh, ex-showroom India, the Marazzo is priced slightly above the Ertiga, which starts at Rs 8.79 lakh for the base diesel version. On the other hand, the top end Marazzo is priced slightly lesser than the base variant of the Innova Crysta — which starts at Rs 14.96 lakh. Evidently, it’s a no-brainer when it comes to judging the specific buyer segment Mahindra Marazzo is targeting, which is right in the centre of these two. This makes the Marazzo 190 mm longer, 131 mm wider, 84 mm taller alongside 20 mm longer in terms of the wheelbase, when compared to the Ertiga. On the other hand, when compared to the larger Innova Crysta, the Marazzo is only 150 mm shorter in length, 21 mm shorter in height, 33 mm wider in width and 10 mm longer in terms of wheelbase. Which essentially mean that the Marazzo looks quite sizable if you park all three side-by-side. Looks Mahindra cars have been synonymous with an aggressive design scheme and the Marazzo is no exception. The MPV, as Mahindra puts it, derives its design inspiration from a shark and one can find several elements evoking the same. For instance, the front gets a grille with claw-like chrome slats, which represent the jaws of a shark and is flanked by an aggressive projector headlamp unit. The lower bumper too gets a well-integrated fog lamp and LED DRL unit along with a gaping lower grille. Move to the sides and the smart angular shoulder line really stands out along with the muscular character lines, lower body plastic cladding and 17-inch diamond cut alloy wheels. Interiors Stepping inside the Marazzo will be a joyful experience, thanks to wide and large doors. You’ll also be pleasantly surprised by the interior design since the MPV uses a plethora of different layers of material and colour combinations. The dash gets a wide gloss-black fascia with angular AC vents and is enclosed within a matt-black outer dashboard layer. The setup stands tall and looks very premium; however, the gloss-black surface will attract dust and scratches. Move towards the driver’s seat and you’ll find a sporty twin- pod instrument cluster with an advanced driver information screen. The multifunction steering wheel gets all the essential controls and is very comfortable to hold, though, it can only be adjusted for rake and not reach. Apart from this, the cabin also employs light colours in seats, lower dash, the lower half of the door panels and roof liner to make the cabin feel airy. Add a large glass area to this equation and you have a very open interior feel.

4. Seating One of the most important jobs of an MPV is comfortably seating passengers and the Marazzo does it with great finesse. The credit goes to the highly bolstered seats. The front seats are deep set and perforated to vent air around your back so that it doesn’t get sweaty. The centre row gets two very comfortable seats just like the front ones. And, to add to the comfort the sliding feature in the middle row can also be adjusted to liberate more leg space and can also be reclined. Moreover, there’s a plethora of interior space even for the last row of passengers as well. All the front and middle seats get armrests, whereas the last row gets the armrest for only one of your arms — on either side. Mahindra Marazzo is offered in 7-seater and 8-seater configuration. Storage Spaces In an MPV, space is the name of the game and the Marazzo also gets plenty of storage spaces to hold your stuff. The dash gets a cubby at the top, the four doors get bottle holders along with cubbies and the roof gets goggle-holder as well. The central console of the front seats gets a sliding-door cubby hole with cup holders, whereas the middle row gets a large cubby to keep a two half-litre bottles or your phone. The last row also gets deep large cubby spaces on either side and can accommodate large one-litre water bottles easily; they can also double up as phone holders. Infotainment Unit The Marazzo gets a 7.0-inch touch-screen infotainment unit which is quite responsive to use compared to other Mahindra cars. The touch feel is nice and you don’t need to try hard to make it work, the daylight visibility is also up to par and since it is high set, reading it is quite easy as well. The screen also doubles up as a rearview camera screen and gives you voice instructions as well while you are backing down. On the downside, the unit only supports Android Auto — for the time being. 5. Air-Conditioning If you are wondering about the passengers of the middle and the last row having a hard time coping with the heat, don’t worry. Mahindra has got you covered with what it likes to call as the ‘Surround-Cool.’ This comfort feature is specifically developed for the middle and third-row passengers. The system employs a roof mounted AC unit that incorporates a cooling coil along with blower to make the AC super effective and fast when it comes to cooling. One can also switch between two different modes of cooling: ‘Diffuse’ and ‘Direct.’ Underpinnings Oddly enough the Mahindra Marazzo features a body-on-ladder-frame chassis with a front-wheel-drive setup. However, the chassis is heavily modified to achieve a lower centre of gravity to improve driving dynamics. The ladder frame chassis should also give the Marazzo better straight-line stability. The car also features soft springs with aluminium control arms to make the ride supple and comfy. Engine and Gearbox The transversely mounted engine is a 1.5-litre inline four cylinder diesel turbocharged unit which produces 123 PS of utmost power at 3500 rpm and 300 Nm of peak torque at 1600 rpm.
