My interesting monsoon ride from my house to the hospital! Something that you never wish would happen in front of your girlfriend. It was pouring outside and my mother told me to stay in the house. It was the first rain of the season. How could I just stay in? So I sneaked out, stole my father’s motorbike and went for a ride. Before leaving I called up my girlfriend who lived 15 minutes away from my house. I wanted to meet her. As I was moving, it started to rain heavily. I wanted to feel the raindrops pouring on my head, and so I took my helmet off. Just before my girlfriend’s house, there was a sharp turn. I looked up while turning just to see if she was standing on her balcony. I saw her. I woke up after half an hour. I was in a hospital. Wrapped in a bandage, I could see blood coming out of my ankle. My right knee had broken and so had my right shoulder. My jaw hurt and there were scratches on my face. I then recalled what had happened. While taking the turn, I looked up to see my girlfriend. What I didn’t see was a car coming from the other side. Just when I saw the car, I tried taking the bike to side by my tyre slipped. My bike got hit by the side of the car, and I went 20 metres dragging straight on the road. Something that you never wish would happen in front of your girlfriend. I was in a shock. I was looking for a familiar face. It was a relief when I saw my parents coming towards me. I could see tears in their eyes. I was happy to see them but like every other kid, I was a little scared too. I stole my dad’s bike and ended up in the hospital. To my surprise, they did not scold me. I could see the disappointment on their faces. Later my girlfriend came in. She was the one who saw the accident and got me to the hospital. I was
expecting some nice words but saw the anger on her face. Somehow I had disappointed everyone around me. I expected a few sympathetic words but the fault was mine. I was in immense pain just because of my carelessness. Moral of the story? I know we all are smart enough to understand the moral of this story, but I also know that you will forget what I just said after some time. Well, there is more than just one moral. 1. Do not go for a bike ride on a rainy season before checking your tyres. The wet surface is dangerous. You might slip if your tyres lose grip on the road. 2. Wear a helmet always. You never know what’s coming. 3. Keep your eyes on the road. Distractions and riding don’t go hand in hand. 4. Take it easy on sharp turns. Turns can be fatal, and during the rainy season, it becomes more dangerous. It is important to slow down in sharp turns.
