Objective First sentence Sell yourself as the superior candidate Include: name of position you are applying for; your most compelling qualities; what is most important to employer OBJECTIVE: a software sales position in an organization seeking an extraordinary record of generating new accounts, exceeding sales targets and enthusiastic customer relations

Summary Clear, Concise statements Focus reader’s attention on you! • Short phrase describing you profession • Statement of broad or specialized expertise • Two or three additional statements related to: • Breadth or depth of skills • Unique mix of skills • Range of environments in which you have experience • A special or well-documented accomplishment • History of awards, promotions, or superior performance commendation • One or more professional or appropriate personal characteristics • A sentence describing professional objective or interest

Describing yourself as “towering” over your non-Mensa co-workers. 8. Condemning the managers who failed to see the “beauty” of your creative designs. 7. Referring to yourself as a “nameless plebe”. 6. Emphasizing failed test scores and incomplete projects.
