  2. How does an A/C Compressor work? The compressor is known to compress the refrigerant gas from low to high pressure and give it to condenser, which takes the gas and converts it into liquid.

  3. Where do you find them? The compressor and condenser are located right outside your house. With increase in compressor issues, it leads to higher electric bill.

  4. Step 1: Can you feel any compressor fan air? If the air coming out is cool or lukewarm, then it's definitely worn out. When compressor compresses air to high pressure, it produces heat and the fan is used to expel the air so that the unit doesn't overheat. If the air is cool, the compressor isn't doing its job!

  5. Step 2: Look out for high electric bills! Any sudden increase in electric bill is a sure sign of A/C repair. With compressor worn out, your A/C lacks efficiency in every corner of the system. Thus, you end up paying expensive bills.

  6. Step 3: Listen! Listen! Listen! Listen to your A/C unit when it turns on. Your outside unit which houses compressor and condenser should run smoothly with no noise. Otherwise, you are sure to hear a hissing sound by gas leak or other issue that has caused your compressor to shut down!
