UK Screeds Can Now Lay Liquid Screed with Laser Levelling UK Screeds has 11 branches within England and Wales and is still growing, with the aim of being able to serve the whole of the UK. The company was founded in 2002 and is able to advise on and install different types of underfloor heating and can lay liquid anhydrite screeds with laser levelling. Indeed, the rise of liquid screeds over the last five or six years has been largely to do with the increased installation of underfloor heating. Unlike a traditional sand and cement screed which is laid by hand, a laser screed covers the heating pipes 100% because it is in liquid form, so it leaves no gaps. This means that there is maximum heat transfer from the heating pipe to the room. An anhydrite screed is also better at heat transfer than sand and cement screed as well. It is also better at heat transfer than a liquid cement screed which is another new type of screed. Furthermore, a liquid screed can be laid far thinner than a sand and cement screed and may only need to be a total of 40mm thick when used over underfloor heating,
compared with sand and cement of 70mm thick. This is another reason why heat transfer is better, and of course, it also saves on materials. UK Screeds can lay as much as 2,000 square metres of screed in a single day and laser level it with a precision equal to, or even better than, SR2. Although anhydrite screed is more expensive than sand and cement, the fact that less is used, combined with the speed of laying which saves a considerable amount on labour, means that the finished cost of anhydrite liquid screed works out at about the same as sand and cement. Liquid screed also dries quickly and can be walked upon in 24 – 48 hours which means that it doesn’t hold up other contractors who need to work on the site. Yet another advantage of liquid anhydrite screed is that it does not curl and therefore minimises the risk of cracking. About The Company: UK Screeds is a family run business with 11 branches in England and Wales and can provide laser screed to any site in both countries.
