Jesus Crucifixion • Jewish leaders become jealous of Jesus’ popularity • Convicts him on religious grounds • Pontius Pilate is governor of Judea and allows Jesus’ crucifixion • Jesus dies by crucifixion on a cross • Suffocates to death • Dies at age 33
Jesus’ Resurrection • After 3 days and nights of death the followers of Jesus (disciples) say he was raised from the dead • This gives the divinity of Jesus • Disciples become Apostles and spread Christianity across Roman Empire • Not popular at first, but gains much momentum to become one of the most dominant religions; even until today

1st Jewish Rebellion Cont. • Romans storm Jerusalem • Destroy the temple completely except for the Western Wall • Masada • Jewish counterattack • Eventually fell to the Romans in 73 A.D. • Half million Jews died
2nd Jewish Rebellion • Happened in 132 A.D. • Half million Jews died • The political state of the Jews completely destroyed • The land’s name is changed from Judea to Palestine • Driven from their homeland (Diaspora) • Most survivors travel north and settle in upper Europe (Germanic states, and Slavic states)
