  1. A Glimpse of the new Nokia X

  2. Nokia X: An Introduction • The Nokia X is the first Smartphone from the Finnish phone-maker loaded with the ubiquitous Android mobile OS. This is a departure from the Windows OS that Nokia was running in its most popular Lumia series of phones. • By attempting to emulate its rivals, Nokia has predictably set a low price target for the phone and aims to tap into the first-time buyers and affordable segments of the Smartphone market. • This phone has not been designed as a competitor to other phones in the market, But Nokia has chosen this model as a game-changer by moving away from the set conventions of the affordable segment of the market. • The phone has a very standard design with nothing much to write home about, an indication that it is targeting the relatively young markets in the globe.

  3. The Tech Specs for the geek • Nokia’s attempt at a first Android phone deserves praise especially on the back of the features that the phone carries. • The Nokia X comes with a screen size of 4 inches which provides a capacitive touch interface much like the other phones in the same range. • Compared to the other mobiles in the affordable, this model weighs considerably lighter at only 128 grams. • The Dual SIM phone has an internal memory of 4 GB that is expandable upto 32 GB by means of a memory card.

  4. The Android version on the phone is the Jelly Bean OS with a Ram space of 512 MB, an appreciable range for the price, while the processor clocks a speed of 1 GHz (boosted by the presence of the Qualcomm Snapdragon ) The camera offers a decent 3 MP, however a secondary camera is still in the works and may come out in the other versions. This phone is equipped with a 1500 mAh battery that will ensure a talktime range of 10 hrs (3G) to 13 hrs (2G).

  5. Nokia puts its stamp through indigenous features • The Nokia X comes loaded with a host of features which makes it different from the other Android phones. • One of the most noticeable features include the absence of the Google Play Store. Fear not, as many Apps are present in the Nokia and Microsoft domain which should be sufficient for the casual user. • Its flagship HERE maps comes with a lifetime of free voice-guided navigation facility and also with a limited offline map interface.

  6. Nokia puts Fastlane in the driver’s seat Another outstanding feature is the addition of Fastlane, which provides quick access to the most frequently used apps with a simple swipe of the finger. Most users prefer this mode instead of customizing their apps to a pre-determined location on the screen. In case, an App hasn’t been used for quite some time, then Fastlane prompts the user to remove them, much like the feature present in the PC.

  7. Why Nokia X is a worthy investment? • Nokia X, launched at the Mobile World Congress at Barcelona early this year, raised eyebrows due to the simplicity of the design as well as the power-packed features that the phone carries. • With a starting price range of Rs. 6500 (Source: Flipkart), Nokia has well and truly made its presence felt. The phone is amply backed by the features and the overall verdict in the industry is that it is a good value for the money. • For the choosy buyer, Nokia X comes in three variants: Nokia X, Nokia X+ and the Nokia XL with improved camera and Ram memory in the last two versions. The price also increases with the variant, however it still stays well within the psychology limit of 10k.
