  1. XLPE or cross-linked polyethylene cables are now widely accepted cables throughout the globe. XLPE power cables are applied as cable insulants for a vast variety of voltages. Polyethylene possesses great electrical properties and has a low dielectric loss factor that creates possibilities for it for use at higher voltages than PVC. Polyethylene has been and still is applied as cable insulant. However, it is used as a thermoplastic material, which has limited applications due to thermal constraints. Note- Cross linking is the effect developed in the vulcanization of rubber and for materials such as XLPE. It is a process described as curing or vulvan-ization.
