SOO LOCKS. What lakes do the Soo locks connect. It connects Lake Huron and Lake Superior The locks have a lake on either side of it It is located in the U.P. in Sault St.MARIE on the St. Mary’s river. The locks are huge gates that allow ships to get from one lake to the next.

  3. The locks are huge gates that allow ships to get from one lake to the next What are the locks ?

  4. We needed it for… . For boats to be able to get through the rapids on the St. Mary’s River . Before the locks people had to have the boats portaged previous to the locks . For boats to be able to ship their goods What does portage mean… . It means carrying boats and their loads over land between waterways WHY DO WE NEED THE LOCKS?

  5. The locks were built in 1855 Challenges of building the locks were… . In winter their tools were covered in snow . Many died from the Cholera Epidemic WHEN WERE THE LOCKS BUILT?

  11. FUN FACTS • The Soo Locks helps ships get from one lake to the other but did you know that with out the locks this would not be possible because lake Superior is MUCH higher than the other
