2. What are the 6+1 Traits? The 6+1 Traits of Writing model is a way to assess and teach writing. The 6+1 traits are the qualities that teachers, readers and writers think are important in good writing.

3. Why should we use the 6+1 Traits of Writing? The traits can build a foundation for good writing beginning in Kindergarten. If students are consistently taught the traits, they will build upon these skills as they progress through Christenberry. By the time they get to 5th grade and the writing assessment, they will be great writers!
