  5. In Science Variables are Important! • They are critical to quality experiments! • We have two kinds : Dependent and Independent

  6. Think/Puzzle/Explore • What do you think you know about this topic? • What questions or puzzles do you have? • How can you explore this topic?

  7. Independent • Independent means free of the influence of others.

  8. Dependent • Conditioned or determined by something else

  9. In experiments we use both Independent Dependent Cause Effect Before After Input Output What you do What happens

  11. Design a poster • Requirements: • Creatively show you understand the differences between dependent and independent variables • Use an 8.5 by 11 in piece of paper • Be neat • Use 4 colors minimum • Use a modern everyday example to show you understand the concept
