Geography Population- 7.908 million (2012) Longitude- 57 degree’s Latitude- 31 degree’s Area in square km is 27,000 km2 Israel’s surrounded by the Mediterranean sea (west),Dead sea (east),and the Gulf Of Aqaba (southeast) Israel’s physical features include desert conditions in the south and snowy mountains in the north, some features are the Negev desert which covers 16,000 square kilometers, Judean desert, Golan heights, Mount Meron. Mount Meron is (3,963 ft.)
Man made features Dome of rock is an Islamic shrine. Masada is a fortress that is located in the Judean desert. Via Dolorosa is a catholic church. Wailing wall is a heritage site in Jerusalem Jericho is a city 34 miles from Jerusalem
Archeology/History • 1948- The Israeli flag became the official flag of the state of Israel. • 1949- The first Israeli legislative election was held in which David Ben-Gurlon became prime minister. • 1949- Prime minister Ben-Grurlon announced Jerusalem as the capital city. • 1960- Four Mossed agents abducted Adolf Eichmann in Buenos Aires and brought him back to Israel. • 2011- 2011 Israel embassy attack: about 3,000 Egyptian protestors stormed the Israel embassy in Cairo
