Muhammad’s followers • Only Muhammad's family followed his belief at first. • Soon the poor started following him bc he believed the rich should share with the poor. • The rich and religious leaders didn’t believe his message and his followers began to get BEAT>>>>
Muhammad leaves MECCA • He leaves Mecca with his followers and moves north to Yathrib. • The welcome him. The trip that they took north was called the Hijrah…. • Hijrah means “breaking off relations”
Yathrib’s city • Yathribs city was renamed Madinah…Which means “the city of the Prophet” • Muhammad created an Islamic state: this is a government that uses its political power to uphold Islam.
