How does the Parent Council support Dunbar PS? The main way that the Parent Forum supports Dunbar PS is by parents and grandparents helping in the school so that pupils can get to do lots of activities, that without these extra adults, simply couldn’t happen. One of the important ways that the Parent Council helps the school is by fundraising and donating funds to the school to buy equipment that otherwise could not be purchased. In the last school year (2012-2013), the Parent Council raised over £9,600 for our school & £8,260 in 2011-2012.
Dunbar Primary School is one of the largest primary schools in the UK, with over 1,025 pupils and 50 volunteer parents acting as Class Representatives for the 38 classes on the Parent Council. We aim to have 2 Reps for every class so with 76 Rep places, we’re proud to have achieved 66% uptake. • The Co-Chairs coordinate the varied activities of nine Parent Council Sub-Groups. • Fundraising & Social Events Group • School Grounds • Healthy Living: • Keeping Parents Informed • Delivering the Curriculum • Literacy • Science, Maths, Technology & ICT • Visual & Performing Arts • Nursery
