Corporate Social Responsibility leads to strengtheninglinks between industrial development, social conditions of work and environmental safety • No growth without industrialization: (UNIDO – Industrial Development Report 2009, correlation for 131 DC, 2000-2005) • Sustained rapid industrial growth normally leads to a significant reduction in poverty (MDG1) • Conversely, poverty reduction is extraordinarily difficult in the context of stagnation • Climate change shifts attitudes towards industrialization (green industry, MDG 7) • Corporate Social Responsibility integrates social and environmental concerns in sustainable industrial development (business promotion and SME development)
Corporate Social Responsibility - cross thematic approach:catalyst for: • Poverty reduction through productive activities: • SME business and employment promotion (MDG 1) • social responsibility ISO 26000 • gender equality (MDG 3) Trade capacity building: • international supply chain expanding • enhanced productivity and quality, • partnership for development (MDG 8) Energy and Environment: • environmental standards ISO 14000 • energy management standards ISO 50001 • green technologies (MDG 7)
