  1. Schools and Mental Health: Communication, Coordination, and Collaboration 2010 North Sound System of Care Training Institute

  2. ...a beginning. • CPET formed a school work group in 2008 and tasked that workgroup with recommending strategies to more fully integrate schools into the broader system of care. • 6 work group meetings attended by: school counselors, school psychologists, county representatives, NWESD, and NSMHA • Developed Focus: Communication, Coordination, Collaboration

  3. Methodology • Developed a 43 question online survey sent to superintendents of all 35 school districts in the region for further distribution. • 4-Point Likert-type scale • Caregiver Survey (with caregiver guidance)

  4. Communication, Coordination, Collaboration Operational Definitions

  5. Communication • Both receiving and expressing pertinent information. It is also how people understand each other and how information (facts, policies, rumors, feelings, and so forth) is transferred between people.

  6. Coordination • When two or more otherwise disparate forces work in a similar, though separate manner to reach a shared goal. Coordinated care is when services compliment, rather than complete; are supportive rather than duplicative.

  7. Collaboration • When two or more otherwise disparate forces work together, often integrating resources including time, money, and space in support of mutually-defined interventions and outcomes.

  8. Who Participated? • 1,882 respondents • 5 Counties • 24 of the 35 school districts in the region

  9. Who Participated? In a broad sense, participation mimiced the population
