Chief Fire Officers & HF&RS Policy for Unwanted Automatic Fire Alarms • From 1st April 2006 HFRS adopted CFOA Policy & AFA Unit Established • AFA Reduction Unit Monitor all Remotely Monitored Fire Alarm Systems in Hampshire via Alarm Receiving Centres (ARC’s)
Chief Fire Officers & HF&RS Policy for Unwanted Automatic Fire Alarms • CFOA Policy has 3 stages:- • Stage 1 Premises having False Alarms are contacted buy letter containing advice on how to reduce false alarms
Chief Fire Officers & HF&RS Policy for Unwanted Automatic Fire Alarms • Stage 2 If a Premises persists in having false activations HFRS can withdraw a fire appliance response under Blue Lights, the responsible person would be required to inform their insurers
Chief Fire Officers & HF&RS Policy for Unwanted Automatic Fire Alarms • Stage 3 If continuing problems arise with the Premises Automatic Fire Alarm System HFRS may decide on a risk assessment basis Not to send a Fire Appliance to the premises fire alarm system, the responsible person would be required to inform their insurers
Unique Reference Numbers • From March 2008 all premises will be required to register for a URN this will allow HFRS to mobilise appliances faster to a premises and to identify earlier problematic systems
