Suspected PE in Pregnancy Leg Symptoms present absent Imaging Algorithm for Pregnant Patients in Whom PE is the Primary Indication negative LE DOPPLER CXR Abnormal with alternate diagnosis (eg pneumonia) Normal no asthma or COPD Normal plus asthma or COPD Abnormal positive non-diagnostic CTPA V/Q positive negative not compatible compatible non-diagnostic TREAT STOP CTPA TREAT STOP D-dimer is not part of the algorithm in pregnant patients.
