DPA vs. SRA • SRA process is as per PRC 4125 and is the responsibility of CAL FIRE alone. • DPA is a product of the California Master Cooperative Wildland Fire Management (CFMA) which is between CAL FIRE, BLM, BIA, FWS, NPS, USFS and CAL FIRE. California Wildfire Coordination Group (CWCG) provides for the coordination and makes recommendations for CFMA and all interagency fire management activities in California.
DPA Boundary Changes and how SRA Changes may affect them Protection Areas and Boundaries: Protection areas, as defined by boundaries, will be mapped and or described and made a part of annual operating plans. Changes may be the result of: • Incorporations/annexations of SRA • Land acquisitions by Federal Agencies • Land exchanges • Removal of lands from SRA by California Board of Forestry • Classification of lands to SRA by California Board of Forestry
DPA Process for Proposed Annual Changes • The process begins by, CWCG sending a letter requesting DPA updates annually by September 1st. • The process is complete when CWCG notifies the respective agencies of acceptance or denial of proposed changes by February 15th (FS GIS Unit will post finalized DPA data layer by March 1st). • This year CAL FIRE has recommended that the annual review process be delayed until the 2010 SRA Review is complete and accepted by the BOF.
