  2. ABOUT SHAHEED MAJOR AMIY TRIPATHI • Born on 30th June 1969 in Kasia, U.P to proud parents Smt.Draupadi Devi and Shri. Ram SakalTiwari • Got selected in N.D.A in the year 1989 and commissioned in 19 Sikh Regiment. • Served in the most severe conditions during his postings in places like Ferozepur, Pathankot, Leh, etc. • In the year 2004, when terrorism in the J&K area was on the rise, 25th May is marked as the day of his glorious martyrdom under Operation Rakshak. 30.06.1969 – 25.05.2004

ABOUT SMAT TOURNAMENT • Being an ardent sportsperson, Shaheed Major AmiyTripathi always encouraged all kinds of sports and the spirit of sportsmanship. • In order to pay tribute to him, the first tournament was held in the year 2004 itself, with 8 state level teams participating. • In view of the great enthusiasm and spirit of the budding talented sportsman, such tournaments are being organized since then.

BIRTH OF SMAT SMARAK SANSTHAN Official society was formed in the year 2007 known as the “Shaheed Major Amiy Tripathi Smarak Sansthan” The SMAT Samarak Sanstha is registered under Section 80G of Income Tax Act (50% Tax Exception on the amount donated) OUR OBJECTIVES: • To bring forth the talent and aspirations of budding sportsman from villages and rural areas on the forefront to a National and International level, and provide them with not only exposure but also a platform to showcase their talent • We intend to tap into the vast talent that our villages and rural communities hold, which lies largely untouched, and unleash them onto national and international stage for the entire world to take cognizance of their talents. • To set forth the hopes and aspirations of our brave hearts, their stories, in a mosaic nutshell that would inspire today’s generation and keep the memories of our martyrs alive in our hearts and souls.

MASHAL RUN DETAILS • Mashaal Run kicks off from Sainik School, Lucknow to Cricketing Arena, Fazilnagarcovering a total distance of 380 Kms. • Sainik School has been chosen as the starting point in the honour of Martyr Major AmiyTripathi who was an alumnus of the esteemed school. • The 380km stretch of Mashaal Run is covered by more than 80 young talented athletes in a 3 day stint • The Mashaal Run snake’s through Barabanki, Faizabad, Ayodhaya, Khalilabad, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar before terminating at Fazil Nagar on the inaugural day of SMAT Cricket Tournament
