Each important word in a proper noun begins with an uppercase letter. • This dog is called Dempsey. • A title of respect is used with the name of a person. Titles begin with an uppercase letter, and many are abbreviated with a period after them. • President Kelly Mr. and Mrs. McCoy Dr. Jean Collins • Abbreviations for weights and measures begin with a lower case letter.
