1st Proposal Creation of the African Energy Database and Information System: • AFREC, • UPDEA, • APPA, • UNEP, • IEA, WB, OECD, OPEC, etc. (Secondary Sources).
2nd Proposal Preparation of a « White Book » on the Future of Power Sector Development in Africa: • Consideration of all energy resources suitable for power generation, • Phasing out petroleum-based power generation, • Promotion of integration and cross-border interconnection, • Development of regulatory frameworks, • Institutional and managerial capacity building, and • Propose a long term development strategy up to 2050.
3rd Proposal Preparation of a holistic study on the situation of power sector in Africa: • Country by country, • Sub-region by sub-region, • Region by region.
4th Proposal Harnessing Solar Thermal Energy for Electricity Generation in Africa: • Requested by the AU General Assembly to be submitted by November 2010, • 1st Phase: The Great Sahara of North Africa • 2nd Kalahari & Ogaden Deserts • Consider other parts of Africa.
5th Proposal AFREC Seminar and Capacity Building in Power Sector Reform in Africa, Khartoum, Sudan, June 2010: • Seminar in the first 3 days; • Training session based on direct lecturing class-setting provided by a British Charter Engineer;
6th Proposal Creation of African Regulatory Body for the African Electric Power Sector: • To be hosted by UPDEA and supported by AFREC & RPPs, • To make use of the RERA experience, • To launch studies focusing on integration and cross border interconnections.
