They are: 1) Narrative Poetry = ___________________________________ 2) Lyric Poetry = ______________________________________________ 3) Dramatic Poetry = _____________________________________ I. Poetry that tells a story and has plot, characters, and setting Poetry that has musical quality and expresses the feelings of one speaker Poetry that presents a dramatic situation and the speech of a character

The Poet uses any rhythm and line length that suits the poem’s meaning. 1) A Japanese form of poetry that consists of 17 syllables. 2) Lines 1 and 3 have 5 syllables each and Line 2 has 7 syllables. 3) It’s usually about nature. Example: Haiku by Matsuo Basho An old silent pond A frog jumps into the pond, splash! Silence again.
