Energy & Greenhouse Management • Objective : To achieve a continual improvement in energy conservation • Target : To reduce absolute energy consumption and greenhouse gas emission levels to 10% below the base line year (2002) by 2008
Water Conservation • Objective: To achieve continual improvement in water conservation • Target : Reduce consumption levels by 10% by 2008 based on 2002 consumption
Waste Management • Objective : To achieve best practice in recycling & waste management • Target Reduction of waste going to landfill by70% ( from 2002 levels) by 2008
Biodiversity • Objective :To manage biodiversity in an ecologically appropriate manner in consultation with the university community • Target : Develop & implement a biodiversity management plan
Pollution Prevention & Environmental Risk Management • Objective : to continually improve pollution prevention actions and to achieve best practice in environmental management in line with the ACT EPA
Transport • Objective : to positively contribute to addressing University-related aspects of the sustainable urban transport issues for Canberra • Targets : • Increase the efficiency of the University car fleet • Reduce the environmental impact of the university’s community commuting
Community Awareness • Objective :To promote corporate and community awareness of environmental issues • Target : Increase the number of people/areas considering environmental impact of decisions
Environmental Management • Objective :To promote corporate and community use of ANUgreen as an internal environmental consulting unit within the campus • Target : to develop a cross institutional approach to environmental management. All major areas within the ANU to have developed an EMS by 2008
