Economic System • France has a mixed economy • Mix of capitalist and socialist economy • French govt. exercises control over economy, owning shares in the country's largest companies. • French citizens with an employee status have health insurance. • Citizens of France forced to live under healthcare of govt. • This economic system has been in place since October 4th, 1958
Natural Resources • Some natural resources are coal, iron ore, bauxite, and timber. • With bauxite, aluminum is produced and with coal, energy is produced by fire powered stations. Steel is made from iron ore. They use timber to make homes.
Human Resources • Teachers • Fishermen • Some private business owners
How France makes up for lacking resources • They trade with surrounding countries for some resources. • Some of these countries include the United States, Germany, and Canada
Entrepreneurial Resources • France is not know for having entrepreneurial resources. • The govt. is encouraging private businesses more and more. • At the end of the 1990s, only 2 million people were involved with owning a private business • Compared to most countries, this is very small.
