ТЕААproject is a part of the Networking programme of the EU – Directorate General Enlargement, for: • Development of the Civil Society • Promoting collaboration between the Civil Society organisations in Bulgaria and Romania, with organisations from the member states Sovata, Romania, 27 – 30June 2006
The complexity of citizenship • Citizenship as status: • the legal contract between State and individual, incl. nationality • Citizenship as social role: • The sense of belonging and inclusiveness, focus on inter-relations Sovata, Romania, 27 – 30June 2006
Active citizenship • Active citizenship is no static attitude or competence • The meaning of active citizenship changes in relation to lifecourse development: it is always embedded in different socio-cultural contexts and in specific individual biographies. • Chances for real participation as precondition Sovata, Romania, 27 – 30June 2006
Models and Formsof Civil Society Participation • Civil participation through establishment of bodies, able to collaborate with the State for provision of better and more effective social services • Civil participation through establishment and development of Civil Society organisations (non-governmental organisations, non-profit, civil, voluntary – the so called “third sector”) – contribution for the achievement of socio – political goals • Civil participation through direct involvement and participation of the citizens in taking socio – political decisions (local and national referendums, consultations with the state and local authorities, subscription lists, meetings etc.) Sovata, Romania, 27 – 30June 2006
The project: • Aim:to support the participants (persons and institutions) to develop their capacity for active participation in the Civil Society development • Theme:initiate and propose activities addressed to the older and elderly people (active ageing) Sovata, Romania, 27 – 30June 2006
